Meet Rhonda Shader
I proudly call Orange County home: my husband and I raised our children here, and I own my small business here. In 2016, a city employee embezzled $5,000,000 of taxpayer money. I was outraged, so I ran for office for the first time and was elected as a Councilwoman.
Since my election, I have helped my city recover from that crime, became Mayor, and delivered results. I launched our own Fire Department, saving $28,000,000, created California’s first joint City-County infrastructure district, producing 5,000 high-paying jobs, streamlined business license processes to help new small businesses, provided housing for homeless veterans, and offered grants, flexible city approvals, and other support during COVID. With my experience as a small business owner, Councilwoman, and Mayor, I know how to bring together best practices from both the public and private sectors.
As your Senator, I will fight to empower and fund local governments to combat homelessness, lower the gas tax and the sales tax to decrease the cost of living, overturn the laws that enable smash-and-grab robberies, ensure teachers, firefighters, police officers, and sheriff’s deputies have the resources they need to do their jobs, fully fund our public schools while still providing charter schools, and deliver state funding to improve traffic on the 5, 22, 55, 57, and 91 freeways.
If elected, I will be accessible, holding town hall meetings throughout our district in Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, La Habra, Orange, Placentia, and Santa Ana.
