Republican Party of Orange County endorses challengers and incumbent legislators ahead of 2026
May 20, 2025
The Republican Party of Orange County Central Committee voted to early endorse challengers and incumbent legislators Monday evening in targeted seats.
These early endorsements signal that Orange County Republicans are united and determined to defend our incumbent members and break Democrat majorities.
The majority of the Orange County Board of Supervisors will be decided by the race in the Fifth District where we endorsed Assemblywoman Diane Dixon for Supervisor.
“Every day that Democrat Katrina Foley holds office is a day closer to turning Orange County into Los Angeles. Foley’s leftist policies and her online admiration of Gavin Newsom and Joe Biden are out of touch with her conservative district. Assembly Member Diane Dixon brings back common sense and local vision. Dixon will win back the majority on the Orange County Board of Supervisors and protect Orange County,” said Chairman Will O’Neill.
In our mission to grow our Republican majority in Congress, the committee voted to endorse Congresswoman Young Kim for reelection. Congresswoman Kim has been fighting for Orange County in Washington D.C. as Democrats continue to fight the will of the American people. Our first step to sending more Republicans to Congress and protect families from Sacramento is reelecting Young Kim.
The path to ending the Democrat supermajority in Sacramento runs through Orange County. We voted to endorse Senator Tony Strickland for reelection and former Placentia Mayor Rhonda Shader for State Senate in the 34th District.
“Rhonda Shader will be the commonsense voice needed for our local families and small businesses in a state where Democrats in Sacramento attack rather than protect. Shader’s leading opponent, Avelino Valencia, couldn’t even use his position as an Assembly Member to vote against the supermajority’s desire to keep buying 16- and 17-year-olds for sex as a misdemeanor instead of a felony. We have to stop the insanity,” said Chairman O’Neill of the early endorsement for the open seat.
Assembly Members Phillip Chen, Tri Ta, Kate Sanchez, and Laurie Davies were endorsed for reelection as they continue the fight in the State Assembly.
“These early endorsements are the first steps towards holding our Republican seats, flipping Democrat held seats, and electing commonsense conservative leadership to serve the residents of Orange County. Let’s go!” concluded Chairman O’Neill on Monday evening’s vote.
